Gamecocks Recruiting: Dixon Boys Give Verbal to USC

Gerald Dixon Jr., a Northwestern High defensive tackle, and Gerald G. Dixon, a South Pointe High defensive end – the sons of former USC standout Gerald Dixon Sr. – committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks today as this Gamecocks blog forecasted.  Acquiring the serivces of these two guys is a huge plus for USC going forward due to their abilities on the defensive line and the added depth.

Gerald Dixon Sr. is a three-star prospect rated the No. 11 prospect in the state and the No. 23 player nationwide at his position.  He had offers from Wake Forest, Arkansas, MSU Spartans and UNC. Gerald Jr. is also a three-star prospect but was not listed in the state’s Top 25 or national rankings at his position. He was hearing from UT, UNC, Duke and Maryland.  Both, in our view, our really good kids with loads of upside and what got them to USC was the “package deal” offered.  They both wanted to go to the same school and USC welcomed them.  They are winners and will bring that attitude to South Carolina.

They are the Gamecocks’ 27th and 28th commitments for this year’s class and USC is not done yet as the Gamecocks are hoping to sign five more recruits for the 2011 class.
