The South Carolina Gamecocks team and fans got word today that DeMario Bennett will be leaving the USC program and heading to Coastal Carolina.
This is not the first time the 6’2″ 174 pound wide receiver has wanted to leave, as last season he was rumored to be out the door but the coaches convinced him to stay. This time is different as he is really leaving to pursue greatness at another spot or at least seek out playing time.
I am a little shocked by this as he had a opportunity to set up his game and fight for more reps in 2011 with the departure of Tori Gurley. In 2010, he had one catch for four yards but did see action in eight games. Easy stats to replace as now the Gamecocks will now look to Ace Sanders, DL Moore or incoming recruit Damiere Byrd to step up big in 2011 to help Alshon Jeffery.
