G.A. Mangus was arrested last night in Greenville, South Carolina and charged with nuisance conduct. For those that do not know who Mr. Magnus is, he is the quarterbacks coach for the USC Gamecocks.
According to a published report the incident occurred outside the Carolina Ale House in downtown Greenville. Mangus, not being smart, decided to pee on the curb facing Main Street. A cop in a unmarked police car saw this and approached him for questioning. They arrested him after he allegedly smelled of alcohol and was slurring his speech and having a hard time answering questions. He got a ticket for the offense – $470 fine – and some time in the county jail.
This is a big black eye to USC and to Magnus as he has been labled a top recruiter. Magnus, in his third year at USC, plays a large role in the offensive play calling for the Gamecocks. Many have felt he would be a good candidate for a head coaching job at some point in the not-to-distant future. Let’s hope this works itself out as Mangus is a great coach. A mistake is hopefully learned from.
Expect more on this soon….could you imagine what Coach Spurrier said when he got this phone call…..
