South Carolina pitcher Ethan Carter was arrested last Friday night in Five Points on drunkenness charges per The Big Spur.
Here is what they wrote concerning the events:
“Carter was cited at 3:28 a.m. on Harden Street and was taken to a local hospital because he had a laceration on his chin. According to the arrest report, Carter had “very slurred” speech. Officers found him “laying motionless in a mulch bed.” Carter was observed to be “grossly intoxicated” and had slurred speech to the point that the offers could not make out any words.”
Seems someone had too much fun in Five Points and it seems 5 Points claims yet another USC player. I swear, that place can bite ya. As a former student, seen it too many times. At at 3:28 am, well momma always said nothing good happens after midnight.
Shame on Carter as he knows better due to this not being the first time the junior right hander has been in trouble at USC. He was dismissed from the team in January 2011 for violating team rules. He then transfered to Louisburg Junior College last season and came back to USC for the 2012 season as a walk-on.
Bad news for him and for the baseball team. What is curious surrounding this event is despite university policy regarding arrests (automatic suspension), Carter is with the team in Kentucky right now. However, has not played since the arrest.
UPDATE (3/19/12): Gamecock pitcher Ethan Carter has been suspended after the junior reliever was arrested on March 9th for drunkenness. Head coach Ray Tanner, who had declared Carter inactive against the Wildcats on Friday, said he was not aware of the arrest until late Friday afternoon. At that point, Carter was suspended.
