Breaking Down the New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day Bowls

fork-in-the-road

New Year's Eve & Day is always one of my favorite holiday's as it combines three of my favorite things: college football, drinking and a day off from work.  Here is a rundown of bowl games for today and tomorrow, and my thoughts…..

Music City Bowl:  Vandy vs. NC State

James Franklin will have his commodores' ready to play in front of a home crowd in Nashville.  NC State had one good win over FSU, but never really did much after that.  TOB is gone, and so is the Wolf pack.   Vandy wins a bowl game to finish off one of their best seasons ever.

Vandy 21 NC State 17 in a defensive battle.  The difference will be Vandy shutting down NC State's passing game.

Sun Bowl: GT vs. USC

El Paso is a great place to spend the New Year!  Not if you are GT or Southern Cal.  Southern Cal will be without Senior QB Matt Barkley, but that won't really matter.  GT might run the triple option, but they lost to Middle Tennessee State and I can't show much respect.  Southern Cal in a blow out.

Liberty Bowl: Iowa State vs. Tulsa

In a rematch from week 1, this game is on the do not care list.  I think Tulsa is coming off a C-USA championship and will give the Cyclones everything they can handle.  Tulsa by 7.

Chick-Fil-A Bowl:  LSU vs. Clemson

A Tiger will win the final game of 2012, lets hope that it is the team from the Bayou.  Clemson brings in a 10-2 team that has a good offense and no defense.  LSU will bring in a good defense with a offense that has had its moments in 2012.  Clemson will start out fast, and then pull a Clemson, and lose by 2 touchdowns.  LSU enjoys Atlanta once again.  Clemson complains once again.

Gator Bowl: Miss State vs. Northwestern

Northwestern hasn't won a bowl game since 1949, 2013 could be the year.  Miss State started out 7-0 and was the sleeper team in the SEC West.  Then came the meat of the schedule losing 4 out of the last 5 including a bad loss to Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl.  I think Northwestern might be ready to win a bowl game. Northwestern by 3.

Outback Bowl:  USC vs. Michigan

Might be one of the best match ups on New Years Day.  Shoelace vs. Clowney should be fun to watch.  SEC vs. Big 10 elite.  Does USC have the Speed to beat the big boys from up north.  USC by 10.

Capital One Bowl: UGA vs. Nebraska

Georgia lost a close one to Bama in the SEC title game and will be looking for some redemption. Nebraska was blown out in the Big 10 and will get blown out again against UGA.  Martinez has already started with the crap talking, and will have a long day getting beat down by Jarvis Jones.

Georgia by 14

Heart of Dallas Bowl: Oklahoma State vs. Purdue

This game is also on the list of I don't really care, Oklahoma state is favored by 17 and should cover against a not so good Purdue team.

OK State by 21

Rose Bowl: Wisconsin vs. Stanford

The Badgers looked good against Nebraska in the Big 10 champion, but everybody knows that Ohio State was the real winner of the Big 10 this year.  This could be one of the best BCS match ups but Stanford will be ready.  Stanford in a close one.

Orange Bowl: NIU vs. Florida State

This could possible be the worst BCS match up of all time. Florida State in a blow out.  This is the reason we are going to a playoff.
