The South Carolina Gamecocks mustered enough to hang-on and win versus the Wildcats of Kentucky. As you watch the highlights of the win, you will see that USC had once again a "tale of two halves."
Yes, it was a win but it was ugly on the defensive side of the ball especially in the second half. This brand of South Carolina football is one that is frustrating as we see that we have talent but, on defense, the unit seems to play without passion at times and without a football brain. Happy for the win but lordy it would be nice to see USC dominate for a complete game.
Here are some rambles:
Clowney – What in the world? Sore ribs? All I can do from the fan stance is trust that the player (Clowney) really is hurt and could not play. But I find this interesting as he did not inform coaches until moments before the game. If Clowney wants to be a top draft pick then he needs to get it together and start performing. Quit the excuses as this blog is tired of them. Put up or shut up.
Respect for Shaw – The guy was magnificent in this game, going 17-20 for over 260 yards and 50 rushing yards. True leadership from the man under center.
Defense – It is getting to the point where it is laughable and somebody needs to step up, including the coaching staff. The team has talent. Yes, they are a young defense but they are SEC-type players. My frustration is the lack of determination and the lack of playing as a unit. If I am Spurrier, I give it one more week and if this occurs again….somebody gets fired.
Well, enough rambles. The game is over. All we ever say is we want USC to continue to get better. I hope this week we see improvement as the Razorbacks are hungry.
