All eyes on senior Tyler Hull. This is one area that the South Carolina Gamecocks football squad must see improvement in for a successful 2014.
The Gamecocks were sixth in the SEC in punting in 2010, but that dropped to 11th (out of 12) in 2011 and then last the past two years. You read that right.
USC finished last in the SEC again in 2013. Hull’s averaged dropped to 37.8.
Hull remains the best candidate, although he’s being pushed in the preseason by senior Patrick Fish and sophomore Zack Cimaglia. The likely punter is Hull in 2014 and he has to step up. Some may say that punting is not important but I would argue that it can be the difference maker. For USC to reach the promise land of the SEC Championship, well the area of punting can not be last in the SEC for 2014.
