You Can't Brag If You Don't Make Any Picks

As the title says, you can’t brag if you have nothing to brag about. So here it is folks, I’m going to lay down my playoff picks plain and simple. I also encourage you all to do the same in the comments. Feel free to just do the first round for now or go all-in and try to predict the whole darned thing.

For the moment, I’m only going to give you my picks. Your Ultra Super Spectacular Playoff Preview will be up later tonight/early tomorrow. Right now I’m working on some stuff for FanHouse, but I wanted to make sure to get this post up so we can all have a little fun.

Also be sure to check out Off Wing Opinion. Over there, Eric is running his annual SC Challenge. All you have to do is pick the Cup winner and you may just get $50 donated to your favorite charity. Just make sure you do it before the games start tomorrow. My personal favorite charity is the Send Kevin to Vegas Fund.

Without any further ado, here are the picks… Analysis and insanity to come later on.

Eastern Conference, first round:

#1 Montreal gets a bye

#2 Pittsburgh over a team that may not show up

#3 Washington over #6 Philadelphia (provided Cote doesn’t knock AO into another time period)

#5 NY Rangers over #4 New Jersey (yea, I’m changing from what I said on Pensblog earlier)

Eastern Conference semis

#1 Montreal over #2 NY Rangers (I think the Rangers become apathetic at this point)

#3 Washington over #2 Pittsburgh (I flipped a coin)

Eastern Conference Finals

#1 Montreal over #3 Washington (after the first round, the east is a complete crap shoot)

Western Conference, first round

#1 Detroit gets a bye basically

#2 San Jose reams the Red Mile

#6 Colorado over #3 Minnesota in what could be a blood bath

#4 Anaheim over #5 Dallas, who also may not show up

Western Conference Semis

#1 Detroit gets past #6 Colorado

#2 San Jose puts Teemu and Scott into retirement for another few months

Western Conference finals

#2 San Jose over #1 Detroit

Stanley Cup Finals

San Jose over Montreal, becoming the fourth straight Canadian team to lose in the Finals.

So there you have it. The NHL playoffs are usually like a crap shoot, so this isn’t going to work out any better than my pre-season predictions. As I said, stay tuned cause there will be much more where this came from in the next 24 hours.
