Thank You Sir, May I Have Another?

With apologies to Garth Snow, it is my pleasure to announce that the Islanders have addressed one of their needs: a powerplay quarterback.

They nabbed defenseman Mark Streit for four years at $20.5 million. (He’ll be traded by January for draft picks.) Streit had 62 points in 81 games last year for Montreal and, well, I’m pretty happy with this one.

This doesn’t change the fact that the Islanders aren’t looking too good next year, but hey, it’s a start! And, as of right now, we’re looking a lot better than we were this time last year when we lost half our team to free agency. So there’s always that. Can’t really do any worse.
