GAME NOTES: The season has arrived. The journey begins. With the first pitch from Gil Meche to Julio Lugo this afternoon, the first step towards the ultimate goal, a World Series crown, is taken. Curt Schilling rightfully so gets the ball on Opening Day, who will hopefully serve as the team’s ace and rotation leader in 2007. Schilling was very impressive this spring, and we’re looking for the 40-year old to carry this success to the real deal. He begins in Kansas City, home of the AL bottom feeder Royals. But watch out: it’s a brand new season for the Royals, too, and they’re looking to play underdog right out of the gate.
