GAME NOTES: This is the rubber game of the series, and we’re going to see much-heralded Josh Beckett go up against Kameron Loe (2005: 9-6, 48 G, 8 GS, 92.0 IP, 3.42 ERA, 1.30 WHIP). Mike Lowell went 1-4, and we had a horrifying bottom of the order lineup of Cora, Youkilis, Bard. Please don’t make me gouge my eyes out like that again. I know we’re banking on improved defense and pitching to make up for the thinner bottom fo the order, but the CYB blend is too horrifying. Why was Cora playing in place of Gonzalez, anyways? With Varitek and hopefully Gonzalez back in the lineup, it should look stronger. Bard obviously had difficulty, but we all need to remember this is a process. Wily Mo Pena had a nice debut. All this adds up to one simple word: Win.
