04/20: Scott Kazmir (1-1, 4.82) @ Tim Wakefield (1-2, 4.34)

Tampa Bay Devil Rays @ Boston Red Sox
TIME: 7:05 PM EDT in Boston, MA (Fenway Park)
TV: NESN, ESPN2
RADIO: WEEI 850
RESULT OF PRIOR GAME
Boston Red Sox 9, Tampa Bay Devil Rays 1 (W: Curt Schilling. L: Doug Waechter)
Sox Star of the Game: Kevin Youkilis – 4 AB, 2 R, 3 H, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 LOB
GAME NOTES: Kevin Youkilis just won’t stop. Imagine this lineup with Youkilis batting 6th and Lowell 7th. It becomes a lot less scary in a bad way and a lot more scary in a good way. Basically, we’ll go from an average offense (because it IS average – we’re just not used to it) to a good offense. The offensive explosion I was hoping for finally came, and while some things didn’t go right, a lot did. I wish these four Tampa Bay errors were hits, then I’d feel a lot better about the night some people had. Nevertheless, our old friend takes the mound to hurl against the Rays’ stud lefty, who baffles the Sox. I’m guessing that Wake and Kaz are going to engage in a pitcher’s duel, and who knows who will win – it’ll be that type of ballgame. Don’t miss it, it should be a good one. Perhaps we’ll see Pena blast a home-run.
NOTE: Adam Stern was optioned to Triple-A, and will begin his full-time job starting in center on Saturday. He’s accepted the demotion graciously. I wonder why they’re doing this now, with Crisp due back shortly – means either Mohr or Willie Harris will be cut – I don’t think they can be optioned to AAA. Willie Harris, Stern’s replacement, can play both the infield and outfield, and was a member of the 2005 White Sox – the World Champions. He hit .256/.333/.314 in 125 AB for the White Sox last year, and in 56 AB so far for the PawSox, he’s hitting .161/.277/.250. Ouch.
