GAME NOTES: Wow, it’s officially baseball season. Just another notch on the belt of this rivalry with an intense duel in early May. Damon made his return to Fenway to some boos and cheers, and went 0-4 in the leadoff spot for the Yanks. Tim Wakefield pitched well again but was deprived of a win, and Papelbon struck out A-Rod in the ninth to close it. The offense put up a dazzling 7 runs, but it wasn’t easy. Chien-Ming Wang pitched a solid game after a rough first inning was escaped, but with the help of Papi’s clutch HR (can’t say that enough), the game was closer than the score. Beckett gets the call today in a game ripe for the picking. Keep the bats hot!
