Tampa Bay Devil Rays (21-26) @ Boston Red Sox (26-18)
GAME: 2:05 EDT at Fenway Park
TV: NESN
Radio: WEEI 850
RESULT OF PRIOR GAME
Boston Red Sox 6, Tampa Bay Devil Rays 4 (W: Curt Schilling L: Seth McClung, S: Jonathan Papelbon)
Sox Star of the Game: Trot Nixon 4 AB, 0 R, 1 H, 3 RBI, 0 BB, 0 K, 3 LOB
Game Notes: Curt Schilling got his 200th win, and now Tim Wakefield is going to go for the sweep, then it’s off to Toronto to face the Blue Jays! Coco Crisp is expected to start today!
UPDATE My prediction was correct, as Wily Mo Pena was placed on the DL to make room for Crisp. I had mused that the Red Sox could use this to have Pena rest his wrist, for power is important to Pena’s game, and then could send him to AAA on a lengthy rehab assignment to play every day. We don’t exactly get a ton better on offense with the addition of Crisp, but we do improve with speed and defense, and once Pena returns, we have a big threat off the bench.
