Game Notes: Well that was fun. A tough loss, followed by an ugly one, and more bad news for the Sox pitching staff as Matt Clement left the game early due to arm discomfort (ok, I suppose that’s bad news). Now the Sox have to salvage a game in this series, and will come out with Second Ace Tim Wakefield against the disappointing Carlos Silva. In other news, congrats to Kevin Youkilis on finally moving back to where you belong: the top of the order. Francona had an interesting statement on the switch, one which puts a little baseball logic against the Common Wisdom of the speedy leadoff hitter: “maybe we can let him run a little more freely down there without the big boys coming up”. In other words, you don’t need speed to round the bases after a Papi dinger.
