The Brewers unveiled 2008 ticket prices and a tentative 2008 schedule on Thursday, and it begins and ends with those North Siders. The season begins with a three-game showdown between the Brewers and Cubs at Wrigley Field from March 31 to April 3 and ends with a three-game set against the Cubs at Miller Park from Sept. 26-28.
The home opener is set for April 4 against the Giants at 1:05 p.m. CT.
The Brewers’ schedule includes a pair of 10-game homestands and a slew of holiday home games, including Mother’s Day (May 11 against the Cardinals), Father’s Day (June 15 against the Twins), Independence Day (July 4 against the Pirates) and Labor Day (Sept. 1 against the Mets).
In addition to the usual home-and-home Interleague Series against the Twins (June 13-15 at Miller Park and June 27-29 at the Metrodome), the Brewers are scheduled to host old American League East rivals Toronto and Baltimore and will travel to Boston’s Fenway Park.
Prices for season seatholder and individual game tickets will increase by an average of nine percent, the third straight year of price increases at Miller Park but the first across-the-board increase since the stadium opened in 2001.
The Good: We finish up the season both against the Cubs and at home…so if the Brewers are within striking distance, they have complete control of their own destiny.
The Bad: We start the season at cold, blustery Wrigley Field.
The Ugly: Huge jump in ticket prices. I expected some increase (as the Crew set a record and they only have so many seats, so the ol’ supply and demand curves kick in), but 9 frikkin’ percent on average? The fans, then, will expect more if they are to pay more–so Doug & Co. better start increasing the payroll.
