PRIOR GAME AGAINST OPPONENT: Tigers 7, Red Sox 4 on 8/14/06 DECISION: W: Nate Robertson | L: Josh Beckett | S: Todd Jones STAR OF THE GAME: Kevin Youkilis – 4 AB, 1 R, 2 H, 3 RBI |
GAME NOTES: The bullpen blows it again, but I’m not faulting Rudy Seanez. Rudy is not a 2-inning pitcher, and he did well. Why didn’t Manny plow into the catcher? There was no way he was going to score otherwise. Why didn’t the offense pony up? Why didn’t Beckett come to the game prepared?
Can Baltimore come back?
On that note, I’ll be vanishing for a while. Andrew will take over the Game Threads through Saturday, and I’ll have a guest columnist Friday. My 21st birthday is tomorrow (Wednesday, the 16th… also the five-year anniversary since Jimy Williams was fired). I have two finals for summer classes, three Red Sox games, and the requisite 21st birthday celebration to fit in four days. See you Sunday!
