PRIOR GAME AGAINST OPPONENT: Red Sox 2, Angels 1 on 8/24/06 DECISION: W: Josh Beckett | L: Jered Weaver | S: Jonathan Papelbon STAR OF THE GAME: Josh Beckett – 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K |
GAME NOTES: Well, a couple of good things happened. 1) Josh Beckett pitched brilliantly. 2) We picked up a game on the Yankees and are four back in the Wild Card race. 3) 10-0? Not on us, Jered. 4) #46 for David Ortiz! But one bad thing happened. It looks like Josh Beckett has his first blister of 2006! We’ll see what happens with it, but I’m glad he was pulled immediately. Off to Seattle, the bane of our existence this year. Let’s show Adrian Beltre and Richie Sexson we are not to be tampered with!
[UPDATE] It’s not a blister. WEEI reports that Beckett has a cut on his right middle finger near the nail. It could impact his next start against Oakland. Stay tuned.
