GAME NOTES: Why? Why Mike Timlin, who’s already blown a game in Seattle? Why Mike Timlin, he of horrible production lately? Why? I simply don’t get it. This loss has me crushed, because this was winnable, if only a shred of logic was used. I just simply do not understand. I couldn’t stop watching the replays, the recap … all trying to know why.
And then I wake up this morning and Coco Crisp’s right shoulder hurts, affecting his throws and sapping his power.
A quote from the movie ‘Game 6’ (Michael Keaton, Bebe Neuwirth, and Robert Downey, Jr.) aptly describes last night’s loss:
“When the Mets lose, they just lose. It’s a flat feeling. But the Red Sox — here we have a rich history of interesting ways to lose a crucial game. Defeats that keep you awake, that pound in your head like the hammer of fate. You can analyze a Red Sox defeat day and night for a month and still uncover layers of complex feelings – feelings you didn’t know you were capable of. The pain has a memory all of it’s own.”
