In a highly anticipated weekend series, top-ranked Virginia got the better of Florida State by taking two of the three games and handing the Seminoles their first ACC home series loss in three years. FSU was able to outscore the Cavaliers over the three games, but Virginia was able to win nail-biters in the first and final games of the set. With the loss on Sunday, Florida State falls to 33-11 on the season. The Seminoles remain atop the Atlantic division, but now trail both Virginia and Miami for the overall best record in conference play. Here’s a look back on an exciting weekend series:

Mike Papi’s two-run double in the third inning stoked Virginia to an early 3-0 lead, but the Seminoles answered in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run homer by second baseman John Sansone. After the Cavaliers pushed the lead to 4-2, Florida State drew back to within a run on a bases loaded walk to John Nogowski in the bottom of the eighth.
