Our old buddy Bob looks back at the biggest stories of the last 10 years

The crazy thing was, I was sure they were going to win it all one year earlier, only to be sidetracked by Tony Dungy’s family tragedy, Mike Vanderjagt’s wayward kick and the white-hot Pittsburgh Steelers. To this day, I will insist the 2005 Colts were their best, deepest, most imposing team. When they finally won it, they did so with a flawed team whose defense was historically bad all year. The postseason metamorphosis was nothing short of shocking.

I can stay here the rest of my natural life and never know another sports experience like the one we shared at that AFC title game victory over New England. It was almost like the Super Bowl was an anticlimax. A clear No. 1.
