The year of Cleveland continues as everything that need to happen for the Indians to clinch home-field advantage and not play the Tigers on Monday, happened. The Indians beat the Royals, the Braves beat the Tigers, and the Blue Jays beat the Tigers to give Indians home-field advantage for the ALDS.
Player of the Game
Yan Gomes, having missed most of the regular season due to injury, deserves today’s honor. One game before the postseason begins, he showed the coaching staff, front office, media and fans that he can possibly help the club this postseason.
Feathers Up
Gomes slammed a two-run home run to left off an Ian Kennedy fastball in the top of the third inning. This is encouraging as Terry Francona gave Gomes the start to get a few at-bats under his bet to determine if he can play regulary in the postseason. It was his first home-run since July.
Francisco Lindor ended the two-all tie in the eighth with a sac-fly which scored Carlos Santana from third. It was Lindor’s 14th sacrifice fly of the season.
Josh Tomlin was locked in from the very beginning.
Feathers Down
After all the scenarios took place, how can I post any feathers down?
Final Score: Cleveland Indians 3 – Kansas City Royals 2
On Deck: The Indians will host the Boston Red Sox for game 1 of the ALDS Thursday night in Cleveland. Trevor Bauer will face Rick Porcello.
