Roman Polak has officially been activated from the injured reserve list after missing the last 24 games. As a result of Polak’s activation, Ian Cole has been sent back down to Peoria.

Arguably the Blues’ best shutdown defenseman, Polak’s return could not have come at a better time as the team will play three games over the next several days. Polak is anticipated to be back in the lineup Monday as the Blues host the Vancouver Canucks.

With Erik Johnson returning to the lineup this weekend, Polak is the second notable player to return in just as many games. Also, Alex Pietrangelo is reported to be very close to returning as well.

Ian Cole returns to Peoria after skating in 10 games with the Blues this season. Cole has played well in his first exposure at the NHL level, but sending him down not only makes room for Polak, but also is a skater the Blues would not have to worry about having to clear through waivers. Cole can be recalled and won’t need to be processed through waivers while other options might have been.
