After a long trip on the road sometimes you just want to come back home and get some delicious, warm home cooking. While the road has not been a pleasant place for the Bruins to travel, they are 6-4-0 at home and welcoming one of the worst teams in the NHL. If the Sabres and Blue Jackets are considered the dumpster fires of the Eastern Conference, Carolina is more like a controled trash can fire. While they are just as bad as the other two, they do have double digit points.
They also have Alexander Semin who is robbing the team blind.
Semin is the second highest paid player on the ‘Canes payroll behind scrambled eggs Staal. The fucked up part? He is going to be making $7,000,000 per year for the next three years after this season. It has gotten so bad that he’s already been benched in Carolina. Fucking seriously. The always pathetic Carolina Hurricanes benched their second highest paid player already.
Granted, you have to give a coach balls who isn’t afraid to do it. Hopefully Claude will one day do it with Lulu to wake him up this season.
I mean you would think the Bruins will dominate right? RIGHT?
Carolina’s in the bottom third of the league in goals scored per game (2.40, 26th overall), goals against per game (3.00, 23rd), 5v5 goals for/against ratio (.074, 26th) and just out of the bottom third in penalty kill (79.2%, 19th).
Surprisingly however is that Carolina’s power play is 12th in the league. That’s something I wouldn’t have guessed. To follow this theme, here’s another dingleberry nugget of information: the Bruins penalty kill ranks in the bottom third of the NHL at 25th with a 79% success. That is seemingly unheard of with a team who usually ranked in the top third – at worst the top half – of that category.
So much like the Bruins road trip, I’m going to pack it in early.
