There are many ways to look at the 2009 season. Some will tell you its quite simple, it was a 3-13 season, but it was also a 1-12 season at one point, and I remember the talk of “would the Bucs win any of their games” because for a while there the possibility of a winless season seemed not so far fetched. The cause of a 3 win season can be boiled down to some simple solutions: The Bucs basically were not that good. They just did not have the talent to compete with the rest of the league, and a lot of young players needed to delelop their talent, and a bunch of new players needed to be brought in which started this past spring in the NFL Draft. Still, the Bucs were competative in most of their division games, and even more so in some other games like the season opener against the Cowboys. With two messed up FG opportunities, something that would be a recurring theme in 2009 until Connor Barth was brought in, and Tampa Bay trailed the Dallas Cowboys 13-7 at the half. The Bucs biggest problem was their new defensive system which as we would later find out was a big mistake. Long TD plays made victims of the Bucs defense, something they were not able to come back from. As we check out the HD video footage of week one, remember the Bucs ran up over 400 yards of offense in this one, with Cadillac running for 97 and Ward for 67 more himself. An opening day effort like this will surely result in a win for the Bucs vs the Cleveland Browns in 2010. The Video highlights some of the first drive, which was a pretty good one.
