2010 Big East Postseason Football Honors

The 2010 Big East football postseason honors are out and a couple of members of the UConn Huskies football program were honored by the conference.

Big East FootballFirst off, UConn running back Jordan Todman was named the Big East Offensive Player of the Year. And secondly, UConn head coach Randy Edsall was named the Big East Co-Coach of the Year along with Charlie Strong of Louisville.

To be honest with you, I really thought Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone would have been honored along with Strong but obviously the Big East coaches felt the turnaround that Edsall had with the team after a slow start was good enough reason to vote for him. This is the first time since joining the Big East that Edsall has been honored as the Big East Coach of the Year.

Todman is the second player from UConn to win the Big East Offensive Player of the Year award joining current Indianapolis Colts running back Donald Brown, who won it in 2008. Thanks to UConn’s great offensive line, Todman amassed 1,674 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.

On the offensive side of things, Todman is joined on the All-Big East First Team by junior offensive tackle Mike Ryan, senior offensive guard Zach Hurd and kicker Dave Teggart. This is the second straight season that Hurd has been named to the All-Big East First Team.

Defensively, junior defensive lineman Kendall Reyes and senior linebacker Lawrence Wilson were named to the All-Big East First Team.

Junior center Moe Petrus and sophomore kick returner Nick Williams were named to the All-Big East Second Team.
