2010 High School Playoffs: Week 4

This week we take a look back at last week’s action, and a preview of the State Semi-finals, with particular emphasis on future Buckeyes.

Week Three Recaps- winners highlighted

Division I

  • Solon vs. Lakewood St. Eds
42-14.  This game was over quickly as St. Eds took the ball and handed it off behind their huge O-line.  Kalis continues to look like a true stud.  Could be the top player in the state next year.   Obvioulsy other guys will get more pub, but he is a true OT prospect with the ability to just crush guys, and doesn’t stop till the whistle blows.  Solon is known for their defense, and has a talented team that didn’t show on this night.
  • Toledo Whitmer vs. Toledo St. John’s
14-10.  Not Kenny Hayes, but NIgel Hayes (who many know as a 2013 basketball prospect) scored a TD in the game.  Hayes and Wormley (Just named DI defensive player of the Year) continue to lead a dominiating defensive attack.
  • Huber Heights Wayne vs. St. X

Miller finished 16-29 for 178yds thru the air, but only 13 yds on 20 carries as St. X got to him a couple times in the backfield, and held him to a long run of 9 yds. Braxton had 1 TD  passing and 1 rushing TD.  He led them down the field, picking up a huge fourth down conversion on a roll out pass, for the game winning touchdown drive.  The final score was 28-24.

2010 High School Playoffs: Week 4
Future All-American
  • Pickerington Central vs. Hillard Davidson
In a very stingy defensive game.  Hillard Davidson won 13-6.

Division II

  • Trotwood vs. Kings Mills Kings

Trotwood put a beat down on Kings.  Bam played an ok game, as I got a chance to catch this one on STO.  He really looks the part.  Will be interesting to see what way the staff goes at S next year.  He could possibly grow to play OLB, or maybe the star position.

Division III

  • Akron Buchtel – Corey Smith (2012 Target) vs.Youngstown Cardinal Mooney

In true beatdown fashion Buchtel put it to Mooney.  35-10.  Corey Smith continued his dominance in the high school playoffs catching a 14 yd td pass.

  • Alliance Marlington – Zach Higgins (2012 Target), Dymonte Thomas (2013 Target) vs. Dover (Canton Fawcett Stadium)

Thomas finished with 154 yds on 23 carries and 1 td.  He was also under the weather all week.  In the game Marlington defeated Dover 35-23.

Division  V

  • Youngstown Ursuline –  Akise Teague (2011 Target) vs. Kirtland (Aurora HS Stadium)

48 – 0.  Akise Teague had 4 tds, two on the ground, and two receiving.  He finished with 199 yds on 17 carries.  I would love to see an offer go out to Teague soon.
