2011 Round 1 Rematch: Coyotes at Detroit

Well damn, the first period and a half was good. Then I got depressed. Where did my team go? You will never win the Cup when you go 0 for 6 on the power play. They need to start getting some more shots off. Throw the puck at Howard. He will eventually get frustrated and the puck will go in.

Kyle Turris did have a great goal early on in the first. It was top shelf off a pass from Whitney and Doan. It was great to see him get a goal in his first playoff game.

Other than not being able to score on the POwer play the first period and a half were pretty good for the Coyotes. They seemed calm, in contral and scored a goal. They were playing well and not letting Detroit control. Then things start to go downhill. Datsyuk has a pretty much amazing goal. Bryz starts making bad decisions. Klesla fights Bertuzzi. Detroit scores again and Holmstrom holds Jovo’s stick and Jovo goes to the box and Detroit scores again. Thank god that was the end of that period.

But the third isn’t too much better. The Coyotes need to return to the calm, controlled players of the first period. And of course they don’t so Detroit scores again. Vrbata gets a goal and the Coyotes get another Power Play but do nothing with it.

Please fix the power play. Please settle down and play a full 60 minutes. But the series is not over. I have not loss hope. I know my boys can do this!

I will say that I love playoff Doan. He will hit anything and everything in a Red Wings jersey. He had seven hits in the first two periods. And he did not let up.

Ok, so now for some blog maintenance. If you haven’t noticed, Bloguin has started to change over their comments to a much better system. My blog has been switched over to LiveFyre. Please see the instructions below:
