2012 NBA Draft Profile: Bradley Beal

Bradley Beal
Florida – Freshman (Born 1993)
Shooting Guard
6’4″ 196lbs

The Good:

– can score in a multitude of ways
– great outside shooter (although he didn’t shoot well from deep his freshman year at Florida) with nice looking form
good at getting to the rim, slashing to the hoop
good playmaker/assist man for a shooting guard
fantastic rebounder for a shooting guard
smooth, fluid player
improved ball-handler
hard worker, great attitude
– got better as the season progressed

The Bad:

– a bit undersized for the NBA
– not overly “long” (6’7″ wingspan)
– not an “off the charts” athlete, by NBA standards
– shot very poorly (for him) from outside in his lone season in college
– probably needs to improve on the defensive end (Florida was a poor defensive team last season)

NBA Comparison:

Ray Allen/Eric Gordon – probably closer to Gordon’s level of play than Allen’s, though

The Skinny:

Bradley Beal’s strong showing in the NCAA Tournament has his stock on the rise, and there is definitely much to like about his game. While the early comparisons to Ray Allen seem a little excessive now, there’s no reason Beal can’t be a high scoring shooting guard in the NBA for a long time.
