Jared Sullinger
Ohio State – Sophomore (Born 1992)
Power Forward
6’9″ 268lbs
The Good:
– 7’1″ wingspan
– strong post player
– hard to move in the post & has plenty of moves
– mature, smart player
– great hands
– strong rebounder (offensively & defensively)
– expanding shooting range & face up skills
– decent defensively (shotblocking & steals)
– had a highly-productive collegiate career for a basketball powerhouse
The Bad:
– undersized for the NBA
– sort of a “tweener” – too short for center, not quick enough for forward
– lost lots of weight last year but still needs to slim down more (6th highest body fat at combine)
– doesn’t possess NBA-level athleticism (speed, jumping, agility, etc.)
– can he guard power forwards or centers in the NBA?
– has had conditioning issues in the past
NBA Comparison:
Carlos Boozer, Glen Davis, Paul Millsap
The Skinny:
Some experts are saying Jared Sullinger is being overlooked in this draft, due to his lack of size and athleticism. He’s got the smarts, moves and strength for the NBA to go along with a 7’1″ wingspan, so he just very well might turn out to be a real solid NBA player.
