2012 NBA Draft Profile: Jeremy Lamb

Jeremy Lamb
Connecticut – Sophomore (Born 1992)
Shooting Guard
6’5″ 180lbs

The Good:

big game/big college program experience
international experience – leading scoring for the U.S. at U19 FIBA World Championship
came up big for UConn in their 2011 NCAA title run
– NBA athleticism
– great scorer – can put points on the board in variety of ways
– huge wingspan for a guard (rumoured to be 7’0″-7’4″)
– deep shooting range
– money from the free throw line
– solid rebounder for his position
– efficient scorer
– good at using his long arms to collect steals
– good ballhandler
– a very smooth, in control player

The Bad:

– thin – needs to add weight/strength for the rigors of the NBA
– three-point accuracy dropped his sophomore year (33.6%)
– not good at drawing fouls
– tends to rely on the three-point shot too much – needs to drive to the hoop more
– not much of a playmaker – strictly a scorer
– questions regarding his desire – looks passive at times
– proved to be not much of a leader at UConn this season
– didn’t progress as much as most hoped this year.

NBA Comparison:

Kevin Martin

The Skinny:

Jeremy Lamb didn’t have the “breakout” sophomore season everyone had hoped for, but his draft stock is still in good shape.  His great length, athleticism, scoring ability and defensive potential should have him gone before the top 10 concludes.  And, to boot, he just turned 20-years-old.
