2012 NBA Draft Profile: Terrence Jones

Terrence Jones
Kentucky – Sophomore (Born 1992)
Small Forward/Power Forward
6’10” 252lbs

The Good:

– great size for a combo forward (6’9.5″ in shoes)
– 7’2.25″ wingspan
– versatile – can play either forward position
– big game experience
– good rebounder
– good defender
– uses his length well on defense (steals & blocks)
– used to being a “role player” – fits in with a team
– can score in a variety of ways (post ups, jumpers, three-pointers, dribble drives)
– lefty
– can handle the ball well for a player his size

The Bad:

– could be caught between positions in the NBA
– very inconsistent
– questions about his motivation/hustle/assertiveness
– weak free throw shooter
– outside shot needs work & form a bit ugly
– not really a “take charge” player – more of a role player

NBA Comparison:

Al Jefferson, Marvin Williams

The Skinny:

“Jack of all trades, master of none”?  No denying that Terrence Jones is an extremely versatile player with great size and physical tools, but does he do anything well enough to stand out in the NBA?  Chances are he won’t ever be a star, but he could/should be a very valuable player for whatever team gets him.
