2012 NBA Draft Profile: Tyler Zeller

Tyler Zeller
North Carolina – Senior (Born 1990)
Center
7’0″ 247lbs

The Good:

– NBA size
– very experienced
– 7-foot wingspan
– good athleticism/speed/quickness for a center
– good lowpost scorer & very efficient
– can run the floor & score in transition
– good jump shooter
– very good at drawing fouls
– great rebounder, especially offensively
– very good defender & shotblocker

The Bad:

– can be foul prone
– needs to be stronger for the NBA
– not a huge amount of upside/potential
not a freakish athlete by any means

NBA Comparison:

 Spencer Hawes

The Skinny:

As you can see from “The Bad” column, there isn’t a heck of a lot to complain about Tyler Zeller’s game.  While he doesn’t project to ever be a NBA star, he should be a solid contributor for many years.
