LaDarius Perkins

Fall is here, and school is back in session, which means the good times are almost here – the start of college basketball season!  To get you ready for this upcoming season, The Hoops Manifesto presents to you its preseason top 25 team rankings, based on the input from our esteemed voting panel.  Next up #13: Syracuse Orange

Big thanks to our voting panel: Jeff Fox (@HoopsManifesto) from The Hoops Manifesto, Perry Missner (@PerryMissner) from RotoWire, Ray Bala (@CanBallReport) who writes The Can Ball Report on Raptors HQ, Adam Francis (@RaptorsHQ) from Raptors HQ, Ian (@SoxAndDawgs) from SOX & Dawgs, and Alex Gallant (@SeaTownSports) from SeaTown Sports.

#13 – Syracuse Orange

2011/12: 34-3, lost NCAA Tournament Elite Eight

Key Returning Players:

C.J. Fair – Small Forward/Power Forward – Junior

8.5 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.1 spg

Brandon Triche – Point Guard/Shooting Guard – Senior

9.4 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.0 spg

Top Newcomers:

DaJuan Coleman – Center – #26 rated recruit (Rivals.com)

Jerami Grant – Small Forward/Power Forward – #64 ranked recruit (Rivals.com)

Top NBA Prospect:

DaJuan Coleman – top 5 pick in 2013

Outlook:

The ‘Cuse lost a whole lot of talent and experience off of last year’s Elite Eight team, but this upcoming season is by no means a rebuilding one.  Despite only returning two players who played over 20 minutes a night for them last year, Jim Boeheim has another stacked roster, with a minimum of four future NBA pros gracing the roster.  Players such as Brandon Triche, C.J. Fair, Michael Carter-Williams, and Rakeem Christmas are more than ready to increase their roles this year.   Keep an eye on freshman big man DaJuan Coleman, a 6’10” 285 pound behemoth that is projected to be a top five pick next June.
