On the night of the 2013 NBA draft, the 76ers traded their best player, Jrue Holiday, to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Nerlens Noel and and a 2014 first round pick. The 76ers new General Manager Sam Hinkie shocked the world with this trade. This deal made it obvious that the 76ers are going to rebuild their team, and plan for the future. Since they’re going to be tanking in the 2013-14 season, there is nothing to look forward to, right? Wrong. I think that 76ers fans should be excited for this season, it will be great to watch this team grow together.

76ers 2013-14 MVP Prediction: Thaddeus Young: I think that the best player for the 76ers this season will be Thaddeus Young. I really liked what I saw from him last season; he averaged 14.8 points, and 7.5 rebounds per game last season. That’s pretty good. I also expect his scoring to go up this season, because the Sixers are lacking play makers. Last year they had guys like Dorell Wright, Nick Young, and Jrue Holiday who scored a lot. Well now, those players are gone, and somebody else will have to pick up the reigns, and start scoring. I really believe that Thaddeus Young will be that person.

3 Players That 76ers Fans Need To Look Out For This Season:

  • Evan Turner: Evan Turner was drafted 2nd overall in the 2010 NBA Draft, but he hasn’t really done too much since then. Last year, he averaged 13.3 points. 4.3 assists, and 6.3 rebounds per game. That is not bad, but he was drafted 2nd overall a couple years ago, a lot more is expected of him. If he doesn’t have a good season this year, then I think we can officially declare him a bust.
  • Michael Carter-Williams: Michael Carter-Williams was drafted 11th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft by the 76ers. He is a 6 foot 6 point guard out of Syracuse. He had two main flaws in his final year with Syracuse; he took too many shots, and he wasn’t good at shooting. That’s not good, but he was averaging 7.3 assists per game too. That’s why he was drafted. People have said that he worked on his shooting over the offseason. If he really did improve his shooting, then I think that he will be dangerous. A point guard who can rack up assists and points is a valuable point guard. It will be interesting to see how he improved his game over the offseason.
  • Nerlens Noel: Nerlens Noel is a 6 foot 10 center out of Kentucky. Noel averaged 10.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 4.4 blocks per game in 2013, his last season with Kentucky. That’s amazing! 4.4 blocks per game is absolutely ridiculous. This guy has a ton of potential. The thing I am worried about with him, is how he is going to respond to playing in the NBA. He dominated in college, but the NBA is completely different. Players are a lot bigger up here, and it’s going to be harder for him. I really want Noel to do good this season. It will be interesting to see how he adjusts to the NBA.

76ers Season Prediction: 22-60: This 76ers team is obviously not good. They traded Jrue Holiday after having a bad season last year. When you have a bad season with Jrue Holiday, you certainly aren’t going to have a good season without him. The only reason that I think they are capable of winning 22 games is that they have Evan Turner and Thaddeus Young. I believe that these guys will rise to the occasion, and help the 76ers win some games. 22-60 could get the Sixers the #1 pick, but it might not.

I don’t know about you, but I’m really excited for this 76ers season. I’m excited to see what they’ve got. Just make sure to prepare yourself for a ton of losses.
