Opening night is finally here. Never has there been as much hype as there is this season. Last year at this time Frank Kaminsky was an alright big guy and we were worried about the Badgers knocking off an average St. John’s team. Now Kaminsky is a cult figure and we feel like we can hang with anyone.
Here are our picks for this year:
[table id=9 /]Jay’s Losses:
Well first I’m saying the Badgers run the table at home. They are going to lose at least a couple road conference games because it’s the B1G. I also see them losing to North Carolina in the championship game in Atlantis, but it will be the best game in any of the holiday tournaments. The California loss is one I wavered on when I was doing previews, and I think California stuns them on the road in a late game.
Andy’s Losses:
Something tells me we could be in for a few surprises, both good and bad this season. First the bad news, unlike Jay, I don’t see the Badgers running the table at home this season. That’s a tough ask when you’ve got Duke coming to town (I know the history at the Kohl Center says it can be a win) and are hosting typical bugaboo teams like Iowa and Minnesota and Michigan State coming to the KC.
I don’t see Wisconsin getting out of that trio in B1G play without a loss, and I see it coming against the Hawkeyes. The other bit of news is I see Wisconsin also stumbling twice on the road, as the trip to the Barn in Eastern Dakota is notoriously dangerous and newcomer Maryland is my surprise team in the conference this year. That means three losses in B1G play, and four losses overall.
