After several days of media fluff regarding Urban Meyer and the recklessness of the players he's coached, actual news occurred. While most Ohio State players are enjoying the last of their off-time, before preseason camp starts in two weeks, Carlos Hyde, a Buckeye running back, and Bradley Roby, a Buckeye corner back, were involved in two separate violent crimes.
Carlos Hyde was poised for a career 2013 season for the Buckeyes, even coming in Optimum Scouting's list of four breakout seniors for 2013.

Hyde was named a “person of interest” in a assault against a female this weekend, which you would assume would be the reason of his suspension today. Although there are no charges on Hyde, he's reportedly dismissed from the team. While quarterback Braxton Miller lead the team in rushing with 1,271 yards, Hyde was in first place with the running backs with 970 yards. While Hyde is a blow to the running game, they return Jordan Hall, Rod Smith, and Dri'onte Dunn, the other running backs who tallied more than 25 carries last year for the Buckeyes. Dontre Wilson, a very highly touted recruit, is likely to also join the stable in replacement of Hyde. Overall, the Buckeyes have enough talent to run smoothly without Hyde.
Bradley Roby, a 2nd team All-Big Ten corner in 2012, was arrested yesterday in Indiana and is charged with battery resulting in a bodily injury. Unlike Hyde, though, Roby has not yet been suspended. Roby, a senior, who could have declared for the 2013 NFL Draft, was “asked to leave the bar” and “was subdued by bouncers” when he refused. Roby is slated to join two other Buckeyes for Big Ten Media Day this week, and by then, whether or not he's present, more details will be out about this situation.
