On the second day of the 2014 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks added some explosiveness to their already powerful offense in selecting Colorado wide-receiver Paul Richardson with the 45th overall pick.
Richardson expressed to reporters he was proud to be a new member of the Super Bowl Champion Seahawks. “I’m so appreciative right now, he expressed after he was selected. “I am so blessed with this opportunity”.
Richardson also told the reporters he wasn’t in contact with the team with the process before the draft. He only found out the Seahawks interest in him after GM John Schneider telephoned him to tell Richardson he was selected by the team.
Richardson scored a high of 21 touchdowns during his remarkable tenor with the Buffaloes, this is second in school history. He adds to that by averaging an “eye popping 41 yards per score”.
Richardson has the numbers if he stays healthy to be a proven wide receiver with the Seahawks. After returning from an ACL injury he suffered in 2012 Richardson was able to overcome it, by capturing career high numbers and finishing the 2013 season with 79 receptions and 1,280 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Richardson is superfast, ran a 4.33 second 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine this past February. But earlier in the year back January while training, he actually ran faster and was electronically clocked at 4.28 seconds.
Head coach Pete Carroll and staff made Richardson their first selection of the 2014 NFL Draft, they must be elated about this selection and cannot wait for him to get on the field with veteran wide receivers Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice.
