A day after the Wisconsin Badgers lost its head coach in a shocking move to Oregon State the program got some good news. It came in the form of a flipped commitment to the Badgers from 2015 4-star running back Jordan Stevenson.
The Dallas, Tex. native was set to flip on Wednesday but waited to hear from Wisconsin about the situation regarding Andersen. Instead of it making Stevenson waiver in his want to flip to the Badgers our recruiting partners at Badger247 are reporting he was reassured about the choice he was making to become a Badger.
Stevenson was recruited hard by defensive assistant Bill Busch, who eased his mind about coming to the Badgers.
“Coach Busch told me everything is going to be ok there,” Stevenson said, via Badger247. “He told me to not let that overwhelm me.”
The commitment speaks volumes of why Stevenson is making his college choice. He clearly is picking the school more than a coach or coaching staff — something nearly every former player will tell you is the smart choice.
He comes to the Badgers as the No. 18-ranked running back in the 2015 class according to the 247Sports composite. Additionally, he’s the highest rated player in UW’s class right now — coming in as the No. 209-ranked player in the country and receiving a grade of 0.9141 in the 247Sports composite. He’s also the No. 30-ranked player in the state of Texas.
He is the second running back to join this class, with fellow Texas native Davon Crookshank coming from Fort Bend Marshall.
As for the type of back Stevenson is, think speed and more speed. He’s definitely a back willing to put his body on the line when needed, but at 5-8 and 185-pounds Stevenson is the more elusive type back that is frankly missing now that Gordon is off to the NFL.

Stevenson will join two South Oak Cliff players, cornerbacks Takadrae Williams and X’zaviae Ausborne as members of the 2015 class.
The commitment moves the Badgers up to No. 24 in the nation according to the 24Sports team rankings and maintains the No. 3 spot.
Of course, there is a lot of change likely coming the Badgers way, but given the situation this is perhaps the best bit of news outside of Austin Kafentzis staying committed ($) to the Badgers program.
