Our View: He may not be the flashiest player in the Badgers 2015 class, but there are so many comparisons to one Chris Borland it’s ridiculous. His production at the high school level and high-end coaching at IMG Academy over the past two years could really make him in to an impact player for Wisconsin.

Some of Thomas’ lack of a high rating from the recruiting services came from playing at a small high school in Kansas early in his high school career. However, watching film of his senior season you can see a guy with great instincts and good explosion to the ball.

What Thomas will need to work on at the next level is better overall pad level and his ability to turn and run in pass defense. He’s already at UW and what he’s able to pick up ahead of spring and during spring is only going to help him. Thomas is a sponge on and off the field, and that will bode well for his chances to be a contributor for UW in the long run.

It’s hard not to be excited by the film we’ve seen from this kid, and don’t be surprised to hear his name in the mix for the two-deep or a starting spot right out of the gate.
