2015 QB Class to Watch – Week Three

Boston Celtics v Los Angeles Lakers

With week three in the bag, let’s take a look at who had good games. We’ll continue to cover these guys throughout the season, something tells me, we could very well be drafting one of these guys in next year’s draft. With two weeks in the bag for the Cowboys, Romo sure looks anything but Romo. Recent reports indicate Romo is dealing with stiff back soreness and it’ll likely last all season. I’ve said this before, but I bet he’s getting injections at gametime or during halftime. If this is the case, we’re in trouble, and the Cowboys are just delaying the inevitable. It’s probably best to seriously think about drafting a QB in the 2015 draft more than ever.

– Kevin Hogan, QB, Stanford 6-4 , 228lbs (redshirt junior)

20/28 216 4 TD 0 INT vs. Army
Next Opp: Washington

As expected the Cardinal dismantled the Knights, and Hogan had a nice game throwing 4 TDs. Hogan is having a good start to the season. It’ll be interesting to see how Hogan performs is some upcoming games against Notre Dame’s defense, and Arizona State as well.

– Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State 6-4, 210lbs (redshirt junior)

BYE WEEK last week
Next Opp: Eastern Michigan

If Michigan’s defense plays well, they should be able to play in the Big 10 Championship and make some noise. For me, I want to see Cook keep playing well whether its against a small program or a more storied programe. Cook is definitely on scouts radar’s, so he need to cement himself with consistent play the rest of the season. Check out Rob Rang’s look at Cook in this video.

– Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State 6-4, 235lbs (redshirt sophomore)

BYE Week last week
Next Opp: Clemson

Winston was on a bye week last week, but they’ll get a stiffer challenge from Clemson, so this will be an interesting match up, some are considering this game a trap game. The issue with Winston will be his off-the-field issues and he made news this week with some comments which landed him in hot water. As a result, Winston has been suspended for the first half of the Clemson game. More on the lewd comments here.

– Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon 6-5, 218lbs (redshirt junior)

19/23 221 2 TD 0 INT and 2 rushing TD vs. Wyoming
Next Opp: @Washington State

Mariota continues to display his athleticism in the passing game and with his legs. There’s no question Oregon will win the Pac-12, and the schedule the rest of the way isn’t that difficult. We should see more of the same numbers from Mariota. Some are wondering if this is too easy for Mariota or whether he plays with enough fire, more on that right here.

– Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA 6-3, 223lbs (redshirt junior)

4/4 48 0 TD 0 INT vs Texas
Next Opp: @Arizona State

Hundley was knocked out of last week’s game with a left elbow injury (non-throwing arm), and Coach Mora has not declared whether or not Hundley will play at Arizona State. I’m not sure Hundley would want to play injured against that Red Devils defense, could put some bad tape out there. This is a game I want to see if he does start, could be a litmus test for Hundley as a competitor and it’ll be a close game. I want to see how he performs with some legit adversity. Arizona State plays some good defense.

– Bryce Petty, QB, Baylor 6-3, 230lbs (redshirt senior)

23/34 416 4 TD 0 INT vs Buffalo
Next Opp: BYE WEEK

Some questions were answered for Bryce Petty as he came back from his back injury. He didn’t miss a beat, Baylor put the pedal to the metal and it was another offensive mauling. The Bears will be on a bye this week and will face Iowa State the following week, so it’ll be more of the same for Petty. Their schedule toughens up the rest of the way, so we’ll see how Petty does against some legit competition in a few weeks.

Sleeper QB to Watch: Sean Mannion, QB, Oregon State 6-5, 220lbs (redshirt senior)

Of these players, who do you like at the next level? Who would fit the best in Dallas?
