2015 Senior Bowl Weigh In Results

The 2015 Senior Bowl kicks off with weigh-in, where each player is brought in, in little more than their underwear, to be poked and prodded in front of NFL scouts. While it seams minor, a lackluster hand size, body structure or missing measurables for the position can lead to a drop in draft value.

Key Notes

Prior to the weigh-in measurements, Senior Bowl Scouting Director Phil Savage addressed the media on all the invited players that declined to attend.

Categorizing declined invites, he recognized those that notified him in advance, those that could not participate due to injury and those that scouts need to “dig a little deeper” on. Essentially, the last list serves the purpose of being Savage’s naughty list of prospects.

Opt Out polite/notified months in advance

  • Vic Beasley
  • AJ Cann
  • Mitch Morse
  • Devante Parker
  • Brandon Scherff
  • Marcus Mariota (did not sign)

Opt Out –season ending injury

  • Dres Anderson
  • Byron Jones
  • Ifo Ekpre-Olomu

Opt Out

Some sort of Post Bowl Circumstance with injury or rehab

  • Michael Bennett
  • Paul Dawson
  • Andy Galik
  • Hronnis Grassu
  • Anthony Harris
  • Jeff Heuerman
  • Nick O’Leary
  • Cedric Ogbuehi
  • Corey Robinson (would’ve been an alternate)
    • Health issue?
  • Ramik Wilson

“Dig a little deeper”

  • Corey Crawford
  • Bud Dupree (Kentucky)
  • Cam Irving
  • Rashad Greene
  • Brett Hundley
  • Kevin Johnson
  • Eric Kendricks
  • Josue Matias
  • Kevin White (WVU)

Other Notes from the Weigh-Ins:

David Cobb

  • Compact, powerful frame without an ounce of bad weight

Ameer Abdullah

  • Tiny hands at 8 3/8’s, short back at 5’8 but well put together frame
  • 198 is a solid weight for Abdullah, who will be a plus complimentary piece

Jordan Hicks

  • Carries his added bulk and weight very well

Henry Anderson

  • Soft for 287, undefined arms, sub 33” arms at 6’6

Trenton Brown

  • Massive being with big bubble –sloppy around midsection

TJ Clemmings

  • Short torso, but chiseled frame and long arms

David Cobb

  • Good build, not much bad weight on him

Antwan Goodley

  • Heard day two opinions -came in 10+ lbs. lighter than listed weight

Justin Hardy

  • As soon as he was measured at 5’10, I heard scouts say “slot”

Rob Havenstein

  • Day three, maybe OG transfer –no rear end

Tony Lippett

  •  Scouts like his skill set and upside, whispering day two opinions
  • Carries a long-limbed, lean frame

Jeff Luc

  • Ohio State game, impressive body type, well built

Quinton Rollins

  • Scout behind me said, “this guy’s day one”

Josh Shaw

  • Almost too big for a corner [had a filled out upper half]
  • Potential day two pick
  • Skinny calves

Laken Tomlinson

  • Broad/wide shoulders –very wide base

Sammie Coates –thick, long broad arms

Dillon Day

  • Per SBNation’s Dan Kadar, Day looks like character from Sons of Anarchy with his flowing blond locks and back tattoos

Ty Sambrailo

  • No real definition to upper half. One scout remarked that he had, “man boobs.”

Daryl Williams

  • Soft midsection, has a bit of a gut
  • 334 is good weight – ideal weight is probably mid 320
