Arizona’s Scooby Wright Sprains Foot in First Game Back From Injury

Junior linebacker Scooby Wright‘s return to the field did not go how Arizona hoped. Not only were the Wildcats thoroughly dismantled by UCLA 56-30, their star defensive player suffered another injury. Wright, in his first game back from a knee injury, sprained his right foot and will miss several more weeks. One of the top defensive prospects in the nation, Wright injured his knee in the Wildcats’ opening game against Texas-San Antonio. No timetable is set for the Wright’s return. Arizona starting quarterback, Anu Solomon, also suffered a concussion in the first half of Saturday’s game against UCLA and is day-to-day.

Florida State Running Back Mario Pender Hospitalized from Lung Injury

Florida State’s Mario Pender has been hospitalized from a collapsed lung and will miss at least one game. The redshirt junior’s lung collapsed after bumping into another player at practice. Despite being ruled out for the next game against Wake Forest this Saturday, head coach Jimbo Fisher said the injury is not too serious and hopes Pender will be released within the next few days. Pender has tallied 140 yards as the main backup for standout sophomore back Dalvin Cook.

UNC QB Situation Remains Unchanged

Head Coach Larry Fedora was adamant the Tar Heels did not have a quarterback controversy on hand. Despite a rough start for senior quarterback Marquise Williams last game against Delaware, Williams remains at the top of the depth chart for the upcoming game against Georgia Tech. Sophomore Mitch Trubisky, who threw for 312 yards and four touchdowns after coming in for Williams, will remain the backup. Williams set a number of school records last season, but against Delaware he struggled, barely leading the Tar Heels to a 13-7 edge before Trubisky came in to put the game out of reach.

Miami Hurricanes Regain New Weapon in Braxton Berrios’ Return

Sophomore Braxton Berries will make his return for the Hurricanes against Cincinnati this Saturday. The wide receiver has not played for the Hurricanes since injuring his left knee on his very first snap of the season. Despite dealing with a slew of injuries, including Berries, Miami is undefeated so far and has never trailed for a single quarter of play this year. Miami has spread the ball out this season, with five passing touchdowns going to five different receivers.

Hillman of Boston College Out Indefinitely with Broken Foot

Boston College sophomore Jon Hillman, the Eagles’ leading running back, is out indefinitely after breaking his foot during the 17-14 win over Northern Illinois. Hillman totaled a team-high 198 rushing yards this season along with two touchdowns and a 3.9 yards per carry average. Boston College Head Coach Steve Addazio did not say exactly how long Hillman is expected to be sidelined aside from saying the Eagles would be without him for “weeks.” Hillman is one of five offensive players for the Eagles dealing with injuries heading into their upcoming game against Duke. Other notable injured players including starting quarterback Darius Wade and starting center Frank Taylor.

Nick Chubb Ties Hershel Walker’s Record

Nick Chubb proved his exceptional talent against Southern en route to tying a school record. Georgia ran over Southern 48-6 both metaphorically and physically, as Chubb carried the ball 15 times for 131 yards and two touchdowns. It was the 12th straight game of at least 100 yards for Chubb, which ties the school record for most consecutive games with 100 rushing yards. The undefeated Bulldogs will travel to Alabama this Saturday.
