2016 NFL Mock Draft: Day 2 Projections Rounds Two and Three

shved

While Day 2 of the draft is five times harder to project than the first-round, I’ve done my best to match teams and players, focusing on what I’ve heard, value and need, in that order.

There’s an asterisk next to the team-player fits I’m most confident in, 12 in total.

60 New England Patriots Austin Johnson DT Penn State
61 New England Patriots Braxton Miller WR Ohio State
62 Denver Broncos Vonn Bell SAF Ohio State
63 Carolina Panthers Kenneth Dixon* RB Louisiana Tech

Notes:
Myles Jack watch SHOULD end with the Dolphins, Raiders, Bills or Falcons, but if it doesn’t, he could be in store for a very long day.

-Le’Raven Clark could be a Seahawk, Colt, or Packer by the end of round two. He’s the next best OT, and all three teams value him highly.

-Connor Cook likely options: Browns, Cowboys, Bills
-Christian Hackenberg likely options: Bills, Cowboys, Texans

-Kevin Dodd should be the last one in the green room, barring a Myles Jack major slip

-TJ Green should get picked over Mackensie Alexander and Kevin Dodd.

-Derrick Henry team’s I’m watching: Giants, Bears and Vikings.

97 Seattle Seahawks Sheldon Day* DT Notre Dame
98 Denver Broncos Jaylon Smtih ILB Notre Dame

Notes:

-Note the asterisked players on who I think is most likely to be a player-team fit.

-Cardale Jones teams: 49ers, Browns, Chargers, Steelers
-Dak Prescott teams: 49ers, Cowboys

-I haven’t projected Kevin Hogan or Brandon Allen to be drafted, but it wouldn’t surprise me if both passers are take Friday night. Potential fits? Bills and Hogan if they don’t get Hackenberg, and Lions and Allen.

-Jaylon Smith should go on Day 2. I don’t think he’ll last to 98th overall, but I think Denver would happily scoop him up should he slip. Note that they can’t trade up from 98th overall to get him, as it’s a compensatory pick.

-Expected the Seahawks to add more offensive linemen and the Patriots to bolster their defense with their draft picks.

-Only three tight ends will go on Day 2. Austin Hooper in Atlanta would be an awesome fit for a team looking for a unique tight end to fill multiple roles in their offense.
