T.J. Oshie’s Game-Winning Goal Against Dallas
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kn0JFU9fHwQ&w=440&h=253] T.J. Oshie has a knack for scoring huge timely goals for the St. Louis Blues. Last night was no different. The Blues found themselves deadlocked after two periods with the Dallas Stars in a game that saw the Blues have numerous chances pass by unconverted. With just over eight minutes left in the third, it took a moment of pure brilliance from both David Perron and Oshie to carry the Blues to another huge victory.Ken Hitchcock shuffled up his lines again on Monday night, this time experimenting with a new line that featured David Perron and T.J. Oshie skating on the same line as David Backes. The end result – the goal above.
Before we dive in to just how remarkable Oshie’s goal was, let’s give some credit to David Perron who dished a perfect pass to set up Oshie’s goal.
Upon receiving the pass, Oshie instantly shifted the puck from his backhand to his forehand, pulling Dallas goaltender Kari Lehtonen out of position which allowed Oshie to slide the puck into an empty net. This move occurred in the matter of a second while Oshie was not only crashing the crease but also while being hounded by Tom Wandell.
Oshie’s move culminated in him sliding the puck into an empty net – while falling to the ice. Upon further review, it seems as if Oshie might have been parallel to the ice while shooting – a tribute to his outstanding coordination with the puck and awareness of the situation.
Where does this incredible goal rank on Oshie’s growing list of impressive tallies?
