The Wisconsin Badgers coaching staff is having a good last month on the recruiting trail. After landing a commitment from in-state prospect Mason Stokke near the end of April, Wisconsin got commitment No. 5 in the 2016 recruiting class from Cycoby Burch, a three-star athlete out of Orlando, Fla. announced his verbal pledge to the Badgers on Twitter:
Im a officially committed to the University of Wisconsin @RyanBartow @njrivals1 @OS_Recruiting @BadgerFootball @CoachDaveAranda
— Remain_Humble36 (@cycoby) May 12, 2015
However, our recruiting partners at Badger247 have pumped the brakes a bit on the commitment as their sources indicate there are still a few hoops that Burch needs to jump through before the commitment is a take.
Once those t’s are crossed and i’s dotted, Burch will become the No. 5 player in the class per those sources.
When that happens (sooner than later), UW will have the commitment of the No. 84-ranked athlete in the 2016 class. Burch is expected to play safety for the Badgers though.
He made the verbal pledge to Wisconsin over offers from West Virginia, Syracuse, North Carolina, South Florida and others.
The 6-1, 190-pound Burch was offered by the Badgers just over a month ago and immediately became a favorite in his recruitment.
Wisconsin is expected to take at least two safeties in the 2016 class, as Michael Caputo and Tanner McEvoy will graduate after this upcoming season.
