In a game that is by far considered the holy grail for Tampa Bay Buccaneers video hounds like myself, and even at the top 5 nationally among all collectors, the 1979 Week 16 Kansas City Chiefs at Tampa Bay Buccaneers game is one that is lost forever, at least as far as we all know. Originally broadcast on NBC only in the Kansas City region, it was recently discovered that the Chicago area got at least a good part of the game too.
Well new footage of that game was found recently during the halftime show on NBC of the Seattle at Oakland game which started at 4PM. Since the Tampa Bay game was over, it was reported during the show. Three clips are shown, including a never before seen missed FG attempt and Kicker Neil O’Donoghue’s try at running for a first down.
There is also a nice new view of Jerry Eckwoods infamous and quite mysterious fumble caused by, well, no one. The final kick that propels the Bucs into the Playoffs for the first time are shown.
