FIRST ROUND
1. Houston Texans: Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina
This should come as no surprise, the freakish athlete from Rock Hill is now paired up with the NFL’s best defensive lineman (J.J Watt) for years to come. Newly hired Head Coach, Bill O’Brien, may opt for a Quarterback, but in this scenario, he resists the urge and lands a dominant edge defender.
2. *Atlanta Falcons: Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo
TRADE UP: Atlanta trades 6th overall, 37th overall & 2015 3rd to St. Louis for 2nd overall.
Atlanta joyously scampers to the podium in order select their new Edge Rusher in Buffalo’s, Khalil Mack. Mack will provide instantaneous stability and pressure to a Falcons Front-Seven which has been lacking in that department for several years.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
Maybe it’s just me, but when your QB is Chad Henne, you MAY need to upgrade said position. Duval has been craving a true heir to Byron Leftwich for quite some time now and does so with the best signal caller in this Draft in Bridgewater.
4. *Buffalo Bills: Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
TRADE UP: Buffalo trades 9th overall, 41st overall, 149th overall & 2015 Conditional 4th to Cleveland for 4th overall.
There are always a few trades that utterly surprising, and this happens to be of them. The Bills could have gone any number of ways at the 9th overall slot, but chose to trade up and upgrade their receiving arsenal and provide maximum support for their 2013 1st round selection, quarterback E.J Manuel.
5. Oakland Raiders: Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn
Reggie McKenzie will absolutely try to move down from this selection and acquire more picks, but in this scenario he is not able to trade down and so he chooses to take the best player available on his board.
Why Robinson? As yourself this question: Is Donald Penn the true successor to Jared Veldheer? Of course not.
The punishing nature of Robinson will bring solidarity to an offensive line which has struggle to do so since the days of Hue Jackson. Oakland could go any number of ways here (if it in fact decides to stay with their current pick): Quarterback, Wide Receiver, Interior Defensive Lineman. And while the Black Hole desperately needs “play makers”, they need stable and consistent Offensive Line play even more.
6. *St. Louis Rams: Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
TRADE DOWN: Atlanta trades 6th overall, 37th overall & 2015 3rd to St. Louis for 2nd overall.
Like Oakland, I won’t be surprised if the Rams intend to move down several times this year. In this scenario, they eschew moving down, again, to bolster their trenches, instead. Matthews can virtually start at any of the 5 positions; just plug him in and you have yourself a possible 10+ year starter.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Eric Ebron, TE, UNC
“Consensus Mocks” are never any fun. Never. While TAMU’s WR, Mike Evans, would make a deadly combination with Vince Jackson, Ebron could prove to be even deadlier. A highly athletic receiver, Ebron may be the second coming of Sterling Sharpe – a man who has more than one natural position…and excels at all of them.
8. *Dallas Cowboys: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh
TRADE UP: Dallas trades 16th overall, 78th overall, 238th overall & 2015 4th to Minnesota for 8th overall and 184th overall.
The Cowboys are in utter ruins. Their cap situation is a mess, Tony Romo is under contract for 5 more years at ever-increasing prices, and they just let the heart and soul of Texas, DeMarcus Ware, leave for Denver. Dallas desperately needs a star, and they need one now. Donald is undersized but uses leverage and an unceasing motor to make play after play.
9. *Cleveland Browns: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
TRADE DOWN: Buffalo trades 9th overall, 41st overall, 149th overall & 2015 Conditional 4th to 
Cleveland for 4th overall.
Let the craziness ensue. The Dawg Pound has been forced to watch the likes of Tim Couch, Brady Quinn & Brandon Weeden disgrace their beloved team. Bring balance back to the order, Johnny Football! Resurrect a dying franchise in Columbus!
10. Detroit Lions: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
THREE AGGIES in the Top-10?! Somewhere, Coach Sumlin is doing the Nae-Nae….but I digress.
I’ve fallen for the mystical allure of an elite WR corp for Matthew Stafford.
Calvin Johnson. Golden Tate. Michael Evans. Impractical? Yes. Improbable? NOPE.
11. *Pittsburgh Steelers: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
TRADE UP: Pittsburgh trades 15th overall & 118th overall to Tennessee for 11th overall.
I don’t think there is a player better suited for a specific organization than Taylor Lewan is to the Steel City. Gritty, ferocious, almost barbaric? Yeah, I would want that guy protecting Big Bad Ben for many moons.
12. New York Giants: Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA
You can’t fool me, Jerry Reese! The G-Men were built upon getting into the QB’s head and staying there. Imagine Jason Pierre-Paul paired with the extremely athletic Barr behind him? Sends shivers down to your spine.
13. St. Louis Rams: Blake Bortles, QB, UCF
Les Snead finally divorces himself of Sam Bradford. Bortles lands in spot where he’ll get a chance to sit and learn, and quite possibly earn some reps down the stretch. The Rams already have a serious defense to contend, all that’s needed is the final puzzle piece, consistently solid quarterback play.
14. Chicago Bears: Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama
The Bears finally upgrade their secondary and it took them long enough! With the Aaron Rodgers Effect (plus the aforementioned Matt Stafford and his many receiving options), you must have an athletic defensive back corps to match the Pack Attack. The Bears’ front office gambles that Ha Ha’s range and elite quickness is the spark Chicago needs going forward.
15. *San Francisco 49ers: Rashede Hageman, DL, Minnesota
TRADE UP: San Fran trades 30th , 77th & 170th overall to Tennessee for 15th overall.
The Niners are going to move up. Accept it. Trent Baalke will not sit and watch 29 picks go before him; when & where he chooses to go is the key. In this case, San Fran lands a physical imposing 5 Tech DE (and situational 0/1 DT) to start opposite the great Justin Smith.
16. *Minnesota Vikings: Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State.
TRADE DOWN: Dallas trades 16th overall, 78th overall, 238th overall & 2015 4th to Minnesota for 
8th overall and 184th overall.
This is almost too good to be true. Norv Turner lands his Franchise QB to pair with Adrian Peterson, Greg Jennings and Kyle Rudolph. It doesn’t get much sweeter than that for the rocket armed Bulldog. Will Matt Cassel lose his backup job to David?!
17. Baltimore Ravens: Jimmie Ward, FS, Northern Illinois
I truly don’t care for narratives. If the kid can play, he can play, no matter where he’s from. The Ravens need a play-maker in that secondary, and what better way than Ward, who has the natural instincts, athleticism and ball skills to thrive in Baltimore.
18. New York Jets: Odell Beckham, Jr., WR, LSU
Gotham City needs a spark, and what better way than the elusive and electrifying receiving product from down in the Bayou. Admittedly, I’m a still a Geno Smith hopeful, and pairing him with Eric Decker, Jeremy Kerley & “OBJ” is the smartest route…..unless Rex Ryan wants a defensive Lineman for the billionth year in a row…
19. Miami Dolphins: Zack Martin, OT, Notre Dame
What does Miami need? OL, OL, and more OL. I’m most likely going to mock all 4 picks for the Dolphins to be Offensive Lineman. Kidding! (not really) Drafting Martin enables Dallas Thomas to slide down to natural Guard position, while solidifying that RT spot opposite newly-signed LT, Brandon Albert.
20. Arizona Cardinals: Dee Ford, OLB, Auburn
The Cardinals are in a precarious spot. Their roster is aging rapidly, but they still have just enough talent to contend with the Seahawks & Niners (Keyword: “contend”). Ford won’t elevate them to elite status, but he would certainly bring an infusion of bend-and-burst pass rush and some run stopping capabilities, both of which are needed in AZ.
21. Green Bay Packers: C.J Mosley, ILB, Alabama
The A.J Hawk Era is almost over, and the Packers MUST get more athletic on the defensive side of the ball. Mosley brings it all at the LB position: intelligence, coverage ability and great tackling technique. He’s a team Captain in Lambeau for years to come.
22. Philadelphia Eagles: Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
Chip Kelly would most likely laugh at this selection, instead opting to take a speed demon from the Pac-12. GM Howie Roseman, however, runs the show and he understands the Eagles’ secondary was/is God-awful. Fuller can play either the boundary or field corner spots, and will immediately start in Philly.
23. Kansas City Chiefs: Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon State
Andy Reid will be jumping for joy if he lands this DeSean Jackson clone in KC. Cooks is a burner and a complete terror after the catch. With Dwayne Bowe as the X receiver in KC, Cooks can concentrate his energies as a natural flanker and the two will be a formidable duo in the AFC West.
24. Cincinnati Bengals: Jason Verrett, CB, TCU
Adam Jones and Terrance Newman will be 31 & 36 years old, respectively, by the end of the 2014 season and the Bengals will need of an upgrade for both by next year at the latest. Who better than Jason Verrett, who is a hard-hitting, quick-footed CB from Texas Christian? I’m sure Andy Dalton will support this pick.
25. San Diego Chargers: Louis Nix III, NT, Notre Dame
The allure of Kendall Reyes & Corey Luiget manning the 3-4 DE spots, with Nix in the middle seems oh, so impossible to pass up. In Nix, the Chargers gain a 2-gapping Nose Tackle with exceptional athletic ability, which will help free up two of the best young DE’s in the NFL.
26. *New England Patriots: Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech
TRADE UP: New England trades 29th & 130th overall to Cleveland for 26th & 180th overall.
We all witnessed the destruction of opposing defenses when you give Thomas E. Brady some talented weapons. Why mess with greatness? Amaro is primarily a receiver and opens up the field in the passing game but he can also slide in-line and provide rest for the oft-injured Rob Gronkowski, at times. Win-win-win.
27. New Orleans Saints: Kyle Van Noy, OLB, BYU
Setting “KVN” in Rob Ryan’s unorthodox defense seems like a perfect fit. While possessing the necessary speed-to-power ratio to succeed vs NFL OL, Van Noy is also a terrific coverage LB who can drop and close with the best of them.
28. Carolina Panthers: Juwuan James, OT, Tennessee
As porous as the Panthers WR corps is, and it’s barren after this year’s free agency, the OL may even be worse after veteran LT Jordan Gross’s retirement. In this scenario, Byron Bell moves to LT, and James slides right in at RT starting Day-1 at camp. God bless, Cam Newton.
29. Cleveland Browns: Xavier Su’a Filo, OG, UCLA
TRADE DOWN: New England trades 29th & 130th overall to Cleveland for 26th & 180th overall.
Cleveland could go in any number of ways here, but ultimately decide that protection of their newly drafted Franchise QB, Johnny Manziel, is their number one focus. While not a flashy selection, “XSF” would start at RG right away for the Browns.
30. Denver Broncos: Ryan Shazier, OLB, Ohio St
Adding unparalleled athleticism at the WLB position would be a fantastic move for Elway & Company. Shazier is an explosive athlete who needs to land on a team whose defense is designed to keep blockers off of him so that he can operate at maximum efficiency. Denver can do just that.
31. Tennessee Titans: Kony Ealy, DL, Missouri
TRADE DOWN: San Fran trades 30th , 77th & 170th overall to Tennessee for 15th overall.
Ah, the age-old questions: Where does Ealy fit, and what is his natural position? That’s for scouts/GM’s/Coordinators to decide, but in this scenario, the Titans add a very talented run-stopping SDE (for now), who can stand-up as an OLB in a 3-4 system if need be.
32. Seattle Seahawks: Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
Heck, why not? Brandon Browner is gone, and Walter Thurmond bolted to New York for some unknown reason. Dennard fits exactly what the Legion of Boom does with press coverage abilities and, at this point, he’s a steal for the Super Bowl Champions.
SECOND ROUND
33. Houston Texans: Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU.
34. Washington Redskins: Joel Bitonio, OL, Nevada.
35. Cleveland Browns: Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State.
36. Oakland Raiders: Dominique Easley, DT, Florida.
I know, I know. Blasphemous, right? But hear me out. The Oakland Raiders desperately need some interior talent, and one that makes an immediate impact as Easley does.
When healthy, Easley has the quickest first-step in the entire Draft and is the perfect fit for a starting 3-Technique DL. Oakland did okay with addressing DT in free agency, by retaining Pat Sims and acquiring C.J Wilson, but the Raiders still lack that “impact” player.
Easley easily would have been a Top-10 selection had it not for been for a second ACL tear. And as we know, McKenzie is not shy to taking players coming off of injury Cc: D.J. Hayden. And now that his knee was medically cleared right before the Draft, it’s more of a question of who will take him early, not if.
37. St. Louis Rams: Jeremiah Attaochu, OLB, Georgia Tech.
38. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Christian Jones, OLB, Florida State.
39. Jacksonville Jaguars: Marcus Smith, OLB, Louisville.

Fales certainly fits the method of operation for Reggie McKenzie and Raiders Offensive Coordinator, Greg Olson. He fits the West Coast Offense like a glove, and certainly could use the benefit of sitting behind Matt Schaub for a year.
Dennis Allen and Olson will be drawn to David’s movement around the pocket (climbing up when pressured), his reads through progressions, and his ability to take care of the football.
Fales size, 6’2″ and 212 lbs, may come into question as well as his deep-ball velocity, but ball location & anticipation are much, much more important in today’s game and he does these well.
As previously mentioned, Fales won’t be required to immediately play, which is always positive for a rookie. A final point: current-Raiders QB coach, John DeFilippo, once recruited Fales to SJSU in 2011, so we know that Fales is his type of QB.

Will Oakland resist the urge on drafting a WR early in 2014? Possibly. The signing of former-Packers WR, James Jones, may indicate that the team does realize an upgrade in the WR corp is a necessity.
With Jones’ addition to go along with Rod Streater, Denarius Moore and Andre Holmes, the Raiders are still lacking that true go-to, “#1 WR” they crave. Rutgers WO, Brandon Coleman, may just be that man.
Listed at a whopping 6-6, 225, Coleman’s best football is ahead of him. He’s a rather smooth route runner, but he can certainly use some NFL coaching regarding hand technique at the line of scrimmage when being pressed.
Brandon has slight concentration issues at times, but his body control during location of the football is astounding. It’s hard to see Coleman lasting outside the Top-100, but his lack of 2013 collegiate production may drop him. In this scenario, the Raiders take advantage of that fall.
