4/30 Angels lineup sans Pujols

mail-1

We knew the Angels lineup was going to be without Albert Pujols for this one and that was going to lead to a strange new batting order. Scioscia did not disappoint:

This isn’t quite as bad as I thought it would be. Moving Aybar to the top of the order is bad, but I am OK with Giavotella. Dropping Calhoun from leadoff is a bold move, but one they probably had to make to give some thump to the middle of the order. The puzzling part is going with Featherston over Green to play third. Defense is important, but with Pujols out and Butera starting, the Angel offense is already operating at limited capacity, so you’d think Scioscia would’ve tried to get Green’s bat worked into the lineup somehow. Oh wel..
