49. Boston Bruins at New York Islanders. Snow, bruh.

My whole body is sore after 7-8 accumulated hours of shoveling. The plus side is I was basically able to power through Season 4 and a third of Season 5 of Parks and Rec with my couple of days off.

In all honesty, it feels like I’m writing the first preview of the year again. After 8 days off, I feel like I have nothing to write about. The All-Star game was a thing, but I didn’t watch because I don’t believe in any form of torture. So it was basically a hockey-less 8 days and I am kind of okay with that. It was nice to take a break from a season that has gone up and down. If that makes me some kind of bandwagon fan then okay, I’m a bandwagon fan. I’ll take that.

The Islanders are no longer a joke. It could only be a year thing – like catching lightning in a bottle – but it’s hard to tell. Things may be different in 6-8 weeks while Kyle Okposo is out with an injury, but Ryan Strome took his spot and has filled in nicely. Of course it has been one game with Strome in Okposo’s place, but he scored a goal – so that’s something, right?

It’s funny – you can’t really point to one player having an amazing year in New York and say “That’s why they’re so good!”. John Tavares and Kyle Okposo each have 40+ points and are basically a point per game player. After that, though, it kind of drops off. Ryan Strome is third in points with 34 and Brock Nielsen with 30.

What they seem to be doing though is taking a very Bruins approach in terms of point distribution.

Okay I got nothing else.

Oh also Matt Bartkowski for Zach Kassian is a thing.

Eh, I actually like this version better

My preview is lazier than an All-Star game.
